Vibratome 800 - McIllwain Tissue Chopper The Vibratome Company has joined forces with the Mickle Laboratory Engineering Company to introduce the Vibratome 411303 Tissue Chopper. This tissue sectioning system has been designed to prepare sections of tissue for metabolic experiments and to be especially applicable to small and irregular specimens available at biopsy or from small organs. Its special features cause much less disturbance of cell structure than homogenizers or blenders, and to be applicable to fragments which would be difficult or impossible to cut by ordinary methods. It has been applied to liver, kidney and various parts of the central nervous system. |

Manual Tissue Chopper To prepare two or three sections for an experiment, this instrument has several advantages. The tissue may be glued to the surface or put under fluid on filter paper. The blade advances straight down into the tissue and so exerts no lateral pressure on the tissue. Even retinal tissue and nerve bundles will not skitter sideways. A micrometer advance sets section thickness. Sections may be cut as thin as 140 microns. The instrument is built with rigid supports so that a quick hand chop can produce reproducible sections. The micrometer advance may be positioned for left or right-handed operation. A rigid preset stop stops blade descent at the acrylic surface. Standard single edged razor blades are used for cutting. Vernier or digital micrometer models are available. |

Vibratome Solid State Freezer/Cooling Stage This Vibratome Solid State Freezer can be fitted to most microtomes and will permit specimen cooling from ambient to -25C or lower, depending on conditions. The equipment consists of a cooling stage and a control unit. The cooling stage is best suited for operation with a base sledge microtome, but can be fitted to most rotary microtomes. Available in 30 x 30 mm and 40 x 40 mm models. |
|
Cryostage Freezing Stage The Cryostage freezing stage is a refrigerated design for use as a specimen freezer and object holder, primarily for use with the 8000 sledge microtome, however, it can be used with other sledge microtomes. The refrigerated stage gives a large working a rea of 130 x 90mm and the surface is ridged to provide good adhesion between the specimen and the stage when using tissue embedding compound. The Cryostage also incorporates a heater to allow easy removal of the specimen debris after it has been sectioned. |
|
Freezing Stage for Microtome These Freezing Stages from Physitemp fit easily onto most microtomes. These thermoelectric devices have no moving parts and need only the AC supply and a trickle of running water for operation. Freezing starts immediately and can be maintained indefinitely. Stage temperature is adjustable so that optimum cutting temperatures can be set for different kinds of tissue. Two models are available: 38 x 38 mm and 76 x 79 mm. |
